Logitech M705 vs M510: Differences and Similarities

DPI

Dots Per Inch (DPI) is the sensitivity of the mouse and it really matters if you’re looking to buy a mouse for competitive gaming.

But if you’re looking for something for your office use then DPI won’t matter much. The Logitech M705 and M510 are featured with 1000DPI which is good for office or home use.

These mice are quite fast and offer a very quick response rate as well.

If you’re thinking about using one of these mice as your daily driver then they can surely come in handy. But if you also want to play games with these mice then you won’t be able to deal much damage.

Optical Sensor

The Logitech M705 is equipped with one of the finest ‘laser grade optical sensors’ which allows you to use this mouse on any rough or smooth surface.

Not many daily driver mice come with a good quality optical sensor but Logitech M705 is definitely an exception.

Logitech M510 is also featured with the same Laser Grade optical sensor and can perform very precisely on smooth and hard surfaces.

Both of these mice are equally fast and there won’t be much difference between the performance of these two.

Price

The Logitech M705 and M510 are one of the Logitech’s finest mice for multi-purpose use. They can outperform many other mice in the market but these mice are a tad too expensive.

The Logitech M705 is a bit more expensive than M510 but the price difference between them is very small.

Design

The Logitech M705 is an absolutely stunning mouse with a very ergonomic and sophisticated shape.

The mouse looks a bit crooked from the top but it is actually designed that way to maximize the comfort level.

Metal body and rubber side grips along with the hyper scroll button and on-the-fly customized button enhance the beauty of this mouse even more.

There’s a Logitech logo at the bottom of the shell and this is pretty much it. The Logitech M705 feels really comfortable in your hand where many other mice in the same category are lacking this ability.

The Logitech M510 features an ordinary shape and looks very much like those standard mice from the 2000s era.

The combination of glossy and matte black is definitely a nice touch with rubber grips on the side providing a much comfy grip. This is pretty much it as far as the design goes.

The Logitech M705 and M510 are featured with 7 buttons that are all customizable.

Weight

The Logitech M705 and M510 are full-sized mice and because they run on AA batteries, they weigh a bit more than your average branded mouse.

As for the dimensions, the Logitech M705 is 10.8cm (4.3’’) long, nearly 7.1cm (2.8’’) at the widest, and somewhere around 4.1cm (1.6’’) deep.

The M705 weighs around 135g (4.7oz) and found in the heavyweight category.

The Logitech M510 is pretty much the same in weight but much bigger in size. When measured, the Logitech M510 is 11.9cm (4.7’’) long, nearly 6.5cm (2.5’’) wide, and almost 4.1cm (1.6’’) deep.

Weighing at 129g (4.5oz), M510 is also found in the heavyweight category.

Hand Orientation

The Logitech M705 is designed with keeping comfort in mind. M705 is an unusual mouse that provides a very comfy and user-friendly stance where you can use this mouse for hours without shedding a sweat.

However, there is a downside to this mouse and it is that Logitech M705 is only suitable for right-handed people.

On the other hand, Logitech M510 features a contoured shape with ideally placed side rubber grips that allow you a sharp grip on the mouse.

The M510 is suitable for both right and left-handed people but it is nowhere near as comfy as Logitech M705.

Connectivity

The Logitech M705 and M510 are wireless mice and both of them are featured with Advanced 2.4Ghz Wireless technology.

This latest tech allows you to operate these mice from at least 10 meters away from your device which is ideal for home multi-media.

Battery Life

The Logitech M705 and M510 offer excellent battery timing and can last for a very long time.

The Logitech M705 runs on 3x AA batteries and can last for almost 3 years (36 Months) whereas Logitech M510 can last for 2 years (24 Months) on 2x AA batteries.

Logitech M705 Review

The Logitech M705 is indeed a flawless mouse with amazing looks and the best thing about this mouse is definitely its battery timings.

M705 offers a much nicer design and comfort levels at a very reasonable price as well.

I’m quite impressed with this mouse and I’d definitely recommend this mouse for office and home use.

But, M705 is only suitable for right-handed people and if you’re a lefty then stay away from this one.
